Pinoy Idol Girl Finalists Rule

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

Here is an interesting Pinoy Idol article entitled Girls Rule Pinoy Idol as written by Nestor Torre

MANILA, Philippines - After viewing the first weekend of telecasts showcasing the 24 finalists on “Pinoy Idol,” we can share these initial impressions:

Quite clearly, the 12 female finalists are more promising than their male counterparts, quite a number of whom sound and look rather “TH” and/or amateurish. “Star quality” generally eludes them—in fact, some of them come across as rather scruffy.

On the other hand, about half of the female finalists have both looks and singing talent going for them. At this early stage of the TV tilt, therefore, we can “predict” that the women will rule the roost during the final phase of “Pinoy Idol.”

A Message to GMA TV Network From Pinoy Idol Fans

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

I can’t help but agree with the readers of my blog. (I verified the IP address of the comments and they are all unique IP adress).

As I went through the criticisms towards GMA’s management of Pinoy Idol, I could only agree on these comments.

Attention GMA. Please do something with Pinoy Idol. These comments are meant to be constructive because we support the Pinoy Idol. I even created a separate blog for the Pinoy Idol because I had high hopes that it will surpass the ABC 5 Philippine Idol in 2006. I watched most of the live shows of Philippine Idol and compared it with the current Pinoy Idol so I have basis for my constructive criticisms.

I hope you look into these comments.

1. The top 24?? Top na ba yun? They all sound like bar singers. Walang dating. No one has a distinctive sound. No distinctive style. Wala ngang aabot sa kalibre ni Jan Nieto e. There’s something wrong with the judges.

2. The lights on the scaffolds of the stage, still too bright.

2. Even the video editing is soo boring… just lame ( i think i’ll be using “lame” to it’s fullest redundancy)

4. Even the sound, the musical band seems so karaoke on sound. It’s so sad that danny’s musical prowess is put into lame reputation. Even the voise of the amazing “the opera” cant be heard.

Eliminated in Pinoy Idol

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

Eliminated in tonight’s Pinoy Idol Top 24 results night was Dio Paolo, Elliot Andal, Drizzle Muniz and Bev Ejercito . What do you think? Why all that sobbing drama in the end? It’s alright to be sad and all but the Pinoy Idol finalists looked like they were in a funeral.

While the show was in progress, a disgruntled viewer sent me an email which is worth sharing so that Pinoy Idol show improves.

pinoy idol auditions in cebuCEBU CITY, Philippines—The fourth stop in the search for GMA 7’s first “Pinoy Idol” took an 80-man production contingent to this Queen City of the South.

Pinoy Idol Auditions at Cagayan De Oro

Pinoy Auditions in Cagayan de Oro as reported by Asian Journal

MANILA, Philippines — During the first round of auditions for GMA 7’s “Pinoy Idol” in Cagayan de Oro last week, Jolina Magdangal cried, Ogie Alcasid picked up a slew of lessons, and Wyngard Tracy realized that he would soon become the most hated man in the country.

Jolina, Ogie and Wyngard are the judges in the local version of the world-famous reality talent search from FremantleMedia.

In an exclusive interview, Wilma Galvante, GMA 7 senior VP for Entertainment TV, pointed out that the judges’ “two-pronged” role was very important: “They tell the contestant whether they’re good or not, and they influence the viewers’ vote.”

Credibility

For this reason, Fremantle had put a premium on credibility in choosing the three jurors from a list presented by the Kapuso network.

Another crucial consideration was whether prospective judges were willing to devote the next eight months to “Idol,” which premieres in April and wraps up in August.

“I wanted [singer] Regine Velasquez to be a judge, but she’s doing a series of concerts in the US,” Galvante said. “Jolina gave up an afternoon soap.”
