Watching Pinoy Idol Live- Top 11 Finalists

There’s nothing like watching a live telecast of Pinoy Idol. I was fortunate enough to watch the live taping but it was at 3:00 PM this afternoon. The problem is it’s what is called “Taped As Live”.

I was told to be there at 1:00 PM but the taping started at 3:00 PM. While waiting, the production staff distributed balloons to the fans and families of the finalists. The technicians puttered around perfecting the sound system and the audience. Here are some of my observations of the live performance.

It looks like the audience is more revved up this time because a staff encouraged the audience to cheer and shout at the top of their voices. I am disappointed that the fans had little TV exposure. Most of the time, the cameras panned on the guest celebrities. GMA should show the fans rooting for their Idol before and after their performance.

Raymond is busy memorizing his lines for the introduction since 1:00 PM.

The introduction of the 11 finalists took 3 takes only because they couldn’t hear their names being called. The finalists look so much better in person than on TV.

Raymond seems friendly to the finalists but still looks stiff to me at times. Is that why he is not told to go near the Finalists after the judges say their piece? Because the awkwardness shows.

As I write this entry, I notice the sounds are much better during the actual taping than the TV version. I must say there is a bit of improvement from last week.

My favorites are

Penelope

Mae Flores

Ram Chavez

For those readers who are avid fans of these finalists, I took solo photos of them after the show:

Mae Flores

I noticed Mae received so many requests for photo ops. That will surely give her a lot of votes.

mae flores
I nearly tripped on the steps as the crowd of fans clamored for Mae’s photo. She is also such a sweet girl. Actually she is my bet for the Pinoy Idol title but winning it depends on text votes.

Watching the live telecast is so tiring. Imagine 4 hours including waiting time! I wished I brought my laptop. I also wanted to sleep already because of the gaps but I was afraid to be caught sleeping.

The audience might be lively and shouting on the top of their lungs but we they don’t show the audience. There’s no shot of the audience itself.

@jeric- I noticed that too as I watch it now. They should show some of the audience’ faces.

Here we go again, im a die hard Idol fan and everytime i watch Pinoy Idol i never stop asking myself “what went wr0ng”? Ok, ok, last nights sh0w was a bit better c0mpared last week. When i first saw Ram auditioning in Cagayan De Oro i t0ld myself “he’s just a trying hard r0cker” until i watched him perf0rming “Banal Na Aso (Santong Kabayo) i told myself: “whoa!!! This guy is fucking great”!… Isa ka alamat Ram. Ang galing mo. Astig!!! I think that Ram is better than David Cook in terms of voice and performance. David Cook is good (we all know that) but he’s boring to watch. He looks like as if he is sick. and to Mae Flores, i l0ve y0u…. You got my vote, you’re truely a performer. And lastly, Robbie, i dont agree with Ogie’s c0mment that you oversang your s0ng choice. You actually sang it perfectly, mabuhay ang RnB. kahit di msyado clear ang audio s tv eh ok narin kesa wala, goodluck sa inyo 3 mamaya sa results night.

I disagree. Ano’ng alamat sa ginawa ni Ram maliban sa paggaya niya kay Bamboo? At mag-aalay na nga lang siya ng song sa taombayan, BANAL na ASO pa napili niya! Logic.

Robbie. Nakakapagod ang sobrang pagkukulot niya.

Mae is good.

Hercules, I BEG TO DISAGREE…

David Cook is one of the best and most original contestants every to grace on the Idol Stage… You must be deaf or blind…

Pinoy idol is still not at par with American Idol… it is still disappointing…

For the thread owner, how much will you have to pay to watch live?

And why don’t GMA make Pinoy Idol live? It would be better that way

@nikko- it’s free. Contact me for details.

I have no idea why GMA won’t make it live. Maybe they are not confident. Check it out live to see why…

they have SOP, a 2-hour live show, right? I mean, there must be a good reason to why they do a live taping. hmm..

@Tessa- I should ask that next time why it is live taping but from what I saw, I felt GMA is not confident yet with the live telecast. There are too many staff milling around the stage.

Your pictures are great. The pinoy Idol stage even looks better in photo than on TV. Even if I have a lot to say about Pinoy Idol Im still looking forward to watching it live… or “live taping” kung ano man yun. :D

i had a mix emotions last Sunday.
